Xerox, Xerox, Xerox, Xerox, Xe....

Frank Loyd Wright said,

"Individuality is something precious in this world to be preserved."

Christopher Alexander said,

"Most of the wonderful places in the world were not made by architects but people. "

These quotes remind me to let go of the copies I am carrying along. Throw out the Xerox copies, copies, copies of behaviors and identities I have picked up along the way. I attempt to drop preconceived ideas, notions, and acquired taste for things not serving me, my family, or our businesses but find them hard to shed. In agriculture, home design, school lesson plans, restaurant menus, and social media status posts, we copy, copy, copy until some twisted version of an original is a virus on society.

What happened to Wes Jackson's Becoming Native to this Place? What if you don't like this place? What if you dislike the ecosystem and environment we have surrounded ourselves with.

You're, not a tree. You can migrate and move. You can create a new "wonderful place" just like a beaver can. He engineers his own ecosystem, and you can too.

In fact, if you don't create and move along, your activities whether personal, business, or family will be a part of a copied stagnant history.

Les Brown says he believes,

"Most of us are born uniques, but die copies."

You friend, can blow the copy machine up. You can blow the bridge just like Robert Jordan in Hemingways' For Whom the Bell Tolls.

You do not have to die a copy. You have the tools and the ability to improvise, create, and interpret situations and environments to solve problems. All you have to do is look around.

What do you see that needs to be done, which no one is doing? That is it. You use your superhero unique human genetic combination to paint a fantastic scene just like the one at the top of the page.

Yes, there are similar type and kinds of redbuds in bloom at a similar time frame, but no two are alike. They are not ordinary, nor are you.

Many people will throw rocks and say "You copied the ideas and quotes of others for most of this section!". True. But I assimilated the seeds for the new group in this garden of a post. It was me who was the designer. Not chat GPT. I'll leave you with the Foo Fighters and Loyd Wright. We must recognize, create and value individuality. Get busy designing today.

“I don’t create a fantasy world; I create a reality of fantasy.” - Frank Loyd Wright
